Top 5 Spa Waters

There’s something about a jug of infused water in the fridge.

Maybe it’s the colors.
Maybe it’s the sound of crushed ice in a long drink glass.

Maybe it’s the fact that it’s hyped and everyone’s doing it and I feel part of a bigger purpose in this universe when I brew my own magical happy potions.

At any rate, here’s my fav ones!
(Put each of these in the fridge for a good 4-6 hours to achieve full flavor powarrrr!)

FOTD: Feeling blue – I mean green.

Yes, my sincere apologies for being MIA.
Obviously I was out hunting zombies.

*cough* or laying in bed with migraines.
Do you know the ones that transform from a really bad headache into a migraine?
Let me know if you do.
Gah I hate those.

But i’m back now, and feeling peachy keen. :)

I finally had the chance to whip out some shadows for myself as well again today which definitely made me feel happier!

There’s no real inspiration for this one, but I have been seeing a lot of greens and aquas popping up lately.
Oranges too for that matter.. hmm secondary colors..

Not that I generally follow trends (i’m too lazy for that) but I do like to peek around!

So yeah, green and pink it was today. :D

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

This recipe made it’s way into my vision field today, and will make it into my belly tomorrow!

mint

Seems easy enough to make and it sounds incredible!

Let’s see what i’ll be needing..

  • Two cups of whole milk (or whatever milk your prefer, but i’ll be going for the full on treat!)
  • Semisweet chocolate to taste
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder to taste
  • 1 peppermint stick, crushed

Warm up the milk in a saucepan, and when it’s nice and hot add the cocoa, chocolate and crushed peppermint!

And.. done!

Apparently it’s nothing new this recipe, you can get yourself these readymade sticks too:

mint

Well in any case, it’ll be me, crisp weather, an episode of New Girl and this cocoa tomorrow!

POP beauty minty goodnight kiss!

Last but not least, the POP beauty minty goonight kiss gloss/balm! Ah POP beauty and their “long a s a book”-descriptions.

This stuff is meant to provide some good luck between the sheets, I can’t vow to that however I have been wearing it today and here’s my two cents on that!

Ingredients

Polyisobutene, Octyldodecanol, Polyglyceryl 3 Diisostearate, Microcrystalline Wax, Myristyl Myristate, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Fragrance (Parfum), Propylene Carbonate, Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean), Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Methylparaben, Tribehenin, Tocopherol, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Sorbitan Isostearate, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Limonene, Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Citronellol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Linalool, Eugenol, Benzyl Alcohol

Smell

Doesn’t smell like mint candy, but like toothpaste! So fresh, I like!

I brushed my teeth right before I applied it this morning, the combo felt amazing, I felt like a walking bottle of mouthwash.

Packaging

Again a click pen applicator. However this one is just perfect in size and thickness, very comfortable!

Looks fun as well I think, kind of an oldschool vibe to it.

pop beauty

Hmm.. Not a lot of product in there. That’s half the amount you get with most glosses.

Colors & pigmentation

I looks blue/green when you look at it! However that’s not noticeable once you’ve applied it.

Texture

Feels like.. a liquid balm. The formula is really thick and not sticky.
Almost as soon as you apply it the mint starts tingling on your lips, not painful, pleasant even! This way it plumps them a little as well.

I can actually see myself popping this stuff in my bag for whenever i’m wanting a fresh pout and some nourishment for my lips, just because it feels so comfortable. And i’m not a gloss-type, I tend to feel like  they’re wanting to backstab me, waiting for the right moment to make me eat my hair and look unflattering.
These past two glosses have gained my trust!

Staying power & quality

Because it IS so balm-y in texture, it doesn’t stay on for long, however I can’t rub it off easily with a tissue either.
It stays on, until I eat something, which is.. 1 to 2 hours for me. Because I snack. A lot.

The verdict

I adore the formulation, however retailing for $18 it’s really too expensive for the amount of product you get, for me at least. I would repurchase this for $10 though, so if you can find a good deal online (a little birdie told me to go to Amazon) i’d definitely give it a whirl, even if you aren’t necessarily a fan of gloss!

Nice and small, comes with a spongetip applicator for your convenience. I like how they’re magnetic.
Same experience as with the other palette though, check out what happened to that one here. For those who didn’t read it: the material is pretty flimsy, so for the price.. they could’ve done a little more right?

Also there’s no mirror again, a make up tutorial replaced that, so to make sure the purples don’t make you look like you have a black eye I suggest you get yourself a seperate one! >_<

Smell

POP beauty smell lol? This is becoming a real item! The strange glue/disinfectant smell again. So let me know what you think it is if you win this!

Colors & pigmentation

pop beauty

click me, click me!

Extremely cool toned palette.  I feel this will work better on darker skintones during the day, on my warm-toned fair skin it looked a bit harsh, but that’s personal taste! Wait till you turn vamp at night, then pull out this palette! It will be far more in its element! And then dust some of the highlighter over your body as well. TEAM TAKE-OFF-SHIRT!

I do enjoy the third color for a quick wash during the day, it looks nice from the lid blended up toward the browbone and some eyeliner. I would say that one’s the most special shade of them all, the other ones are just your good ol’ smokeys!

1: extremely dark grey, when applied it looks almost matte with a faint silver shimmer through it

2: deep blue based purple, velvet finish

3: taupy grey, velvet finish

4: red based purple, velvet finish

5: light silver, velvet finish

6: shimmery white with velvet finish, lovely soft effect to it when you blend it in however the highlighter in the lid gold palette is my fav!

The back of the palette says “lid-shimmers” but what I like about pop shadows is that they have more of a velvet finish to them. So much more forgiving, it gives your lids a healthy glow without being overpowering.

On a finishing note I have to give credit to pop beauty again for including a highlighter, it gives this palette multipurpose-points.

Texture

Copy-paste alert, feel free to scroll down if you’ve seen my other review!

As with the pop eye trio, they’re soft, buttery, and easily blendable, but they can be chalky (fallout alert). On the picture I used a milky base underneath, and once again that makes them show up true to color.
What I conclude from that is that the pigment in them is nice, however being so soft it needs something to stick to. The texture could use some work to make them less powdery.

The regular price for these is on the high side I think, I would personally go for the eye pop trios then. Only three colors, but more of each color, a mirror, and sturdy packaging. However if you get them on sale, like me, they’re great for the price!

Staying power & quality

On my oily lids they don’t stay put without a primer, no matter what the promises are. Then again no shadow does!

The verdict

As for this palette, the colors are nice for either darker skin or evening wear. I personally don’t see myself reaching for this a lot during the day.  Then the second thing, as with the lid gold, I wish it came with a mirror for traveling!
The price is a bit too high for what you get I think, these retail for $24! I wouldn’t repurchase, the price is too high for something I won’t wear a lot. However if you really enjoy your silver smokeys, and you find these on sale, go for it!

POP Beauty Lid Gold

Oh yea that’s right, i’m busting out another one!

The second palette I will be reviewing is one from option 2 in my giveaway, the lid gold eyeshadow palette!

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Octyl Palmitate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, May Contain (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289), Polyethylene Teraphthalate

Nice size, comes with a spongetip applicator, and the magnetic closure is handy. It’s flimsy though. It traveled with me for one weekend in my make-up bag and ended up like this:

lid gold

I might have upped the drama a little but you catch my drift!

Besides that, no mirror, boo! The eye pop trios are much handier in that aspect. A fun little tutorial for inspiration-less days took its place which can be handy. But you still won’t be able to place the eyeshadows in the correct place without a mirror now will you!

Smell

I’m really starting to think it’s the POP beauty glue. The smell of these is lighter than the trio ones, but it still reminds me of glue or disinfectant lol! Not a standard cosmetic smell, really something I can’t place. If you win one of these, please let me know what you think!

A nice neutral palette this one, it would’ve been awesome (in my opinion) if there was one really happy popping color in it though, like a bright fun grassy green? In any case! The colors are following:

1: blackened brown with a tiny bit of gold shimmer, not noticable once applied unless you really try.

2: your typical dark olive bronze, has a metallic finish.

3: lovely bronze champagne color, also a metallic finish!

4: yellow gold, velvet finish.

5: pale mint color with gold sheen, velvet finish. (nice on green eyes)

6: ivory with a coral/pink duochrome, reminds me of Nanogold by MAC or an old Bodyshop shadow I have, this has a velvet finish as well.

The only matte color here is number 6, you really don’t catch any shimmer in that one. However, I don’t miss the matte shades, seeing as these aren’t full-on shimmery. They will make your lids look healthy and radient, instead of resembling a disco queen (I meant for that to sound terrible however I failed, disco queens are fantastic).
And then the matte still gives you a nice mix of textures on the eye if you like some more depth.

It is a nice selection of colors, overall. But see I can’t be very enthousiastic if it doesn’t at least have one bright color! However that’s my problem, not everyone else’s!

Texture

As with the pop eye trio, they’re soft buttery, and easily blendable, but they can be chalky (fallout alert).

POP beauty shadows are supposed to stay put without a primer, but i’ve yet do discover a shadow as great as that! I have oily lids though.

The verdict

It’s a nice palette, I just wish it came with a mirror for travel. Besides that I think the price is a bit too high for what you get, however like I said if you can get them in a sale, perfect! 4 stars then.

These retail for around $24.

Fav spring nailpolish

This summer, pastels as well as bright colors, are really big.

I’m usualy not that into pastels, i’m all about the brights. But I do love how they look next to bright colors!
Which is why my fav nailpolish atm is Miss Minty, by Gosh.

LifeOfBun

Miss minty is a blue toned mint. It’s doesn’t contain much green.

Gosh is a cruelty free cosmetics and frangrance company, based in Denmark.
Their products are sold at drugstores throughout the world.

They are not inexpensive, compared to other drugstore brands.
However, their colors are vibrant and you get an incredibly opaque finish with 2 coats.
(even with pastels)
And with a good topcoat, they stay on my nails for about a week.
(that’s including doing the washing up everyday, and all that fun stuff)

The color is available in their permanent line at the moment and retails at 6.99 euros.

Are you into pastels or not so much? Comment below! :)
